This is an excellent "own voices" book - a book about an autistic girl written by a neurodivergent author. Addie comes alive in these pages. This is a book that should be in all school libraries so kids can find representation, and learn how other kids experience the world. It should also be on the curriculum for teachers-to-be so they don't end up like Miss Murphy!
I think the tales of the Scottish witch trials is a great technique at many levels for telling Addie's story. I happened to know there are groups actively seeking justice for those who were accused and hanged for being witches hundres of years ago when the real crime was bullying and ignorance.
